BLOODY MARY (2018)
....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
What if the world is a woman,
and she has a body that holds a womb,
that holds destruction and holds life,
And they do not fear each other…
The body is the lesson and the map,
the prison and the redemption.
The stage is a training ground,
and I am training, in destruction,
Temporary, Foreknown, yet surprising every time anew.
This is an invitation to take the biological mechanism of the menstrual cycle and use it as a choreographic score—an outline for a space of cyclical, temporary destruction. It is a wish to establish the female body as a source of knowledge and inspiration for new insights, turning it into a platform through which one can view and act upon the world, with hope for a better future.
